BarkLedger is pet care management software, operated by EquipNexus. Pet care businesses use it to take bookings, keep client and pet records, send invoices and get paid. Each business decides what it asks its clients for and is responsible for its own clients' data; BarkLedger stores and processes that data on the business's behalf. Requests about data your pet care business holds should go to that business first, and we will help it respond. EquipNexus is responsible for business owner and staff account data and for security records. This policy covers the BarkLedger website, the installable web app on iPhone and iPad, and the BarkLedger Android app.

What we collect

• Account details: name, email address, phone number, postal address, and your password, which is stored only as a one-way hash.
• Pet records: names, type, breed, weight, birth date, medical, behaviour and diet notes, vaccinations, medications, and vet and emergency contacts.
• Photos of your pets that you or your pet care business upload.
• Messages between you and your pet care business.
• Reviews you write about your pet care business.
• Bookings, invoices and payment status. Card details are entered on Stripe's own pages and never reach us. Crypto payments go through the BTCPay Server your business uses.
• App only: the device push token the app uses to receive notifications, and the app version.
• Security records: the IP address and browser or app user agent of requests, used to stop abuse (rate limits) and to investigate problems.

Device permissions

• Camera: only when you take a pet photo or scan your business's QR code.
• Notifications: only if you allow them.
• App lock: your phone checks your fingerprint, face or passcode. That data stays on your phone and never reaches the app or us.

What we do not do

No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other apps or websites. Your data is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone for their own marketing. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDK.

Why we use it

To run the service for you and your pet care business: your account, bookings, pet care, invoices and payments, the notifications you allow, and keeping the service secure.

Who receives it

• The pet care business you use, which sees your account, pets, bookings, messages and invoices.
• Stripe, for card payments, and the BTCPay Server your business uses, for crypto payments, when you pay that way.
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service, which deliver notifications to the app. They receive the device push token and the notification text.
• Our hosting and email delivery providers, which store and send data only on our instructions.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, and integration credentials are encrypted at rest.

Keeping and deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time, with or without the app: sign in on your pet care business's website or in the app, open Profile and choose Delete my account. If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days. Deleting removes your name, contact details, password, pets, the pet photos you uploaded, messages and reviews. Booking and payment history, including any notes written about a booking, is kept for your pet care business's records, with your account's name and contact details removed, for as long as the business uses BarkLedger. Full details are on our support page. Staff and business owners should contact the business owner or BarkLedger support. You can also email [email protected] to ask for a copy of your data.

Web server logs, which include IP addresses, are kept for 14 days. Records of actions taken by BarkLedger staff, which can include an IP address, are kept for two years. Backups are overwritten within 90 days.

Children

BarkLedger is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
